JENNI KELLY
Jenni was born in Kerang Victoria and lived and was educated in Bendigo where her interest in oil painting began viewing the great Australian masters at the Bendigo Regional Art Gallery thus starting a long life love affair of viewing galleries Australia wide. Her early works were in traditional oils depicting the subjects of the Gold Mining areas and continuing this style of painting for many years. After marriage and family with husbands work to areas such as Mackay, Isisford, Cardwell, Augathella and Clifton. While living in these isolated areas she continued to do some painting and was a member of The Flying Art School for many years travelling hundreds of kilometers to designated centers. Jenni is basically self taught and is constantly improving her skills by attending other artists workshops, e.g McGregor Summer Schools Toowoomba, Mitchell Summer School’s Bathurst and Clifton Art workshops regularly. Jenni is currently living in Murrumba Downs at North Brisbane. Jenni achieves a realistic expression in her creative freestyle painting leaving the viewer free to excise their own imagination. These paintings have an appealing sense of colour, freedom and movement with subjects close to nature. Jenni’ also a member of “Nature in the Raw” with works going in exhibitions all over Queensland and in 2004 the Bristol Zoo Gardens in U.K. Jenni’s work is continually on display at the White Patch Gallery on Bribie Island and at the Blue Dolphin Gallery at Mooloolaba. 21 Pieces of Jenni’s paintings are hanging throughout the Holy Spirit Hospital at Chermside Brisbane

gretel&dexter
Characterised by elegance and beauty, gretel&dexter is dedicated to the free, youthful and stylish bohemian gypsy in us all.
Young Designer, Gretel Harvey, started the Brisbane label in late 2012 by accident when she made herself a classic Black Shoulder Dress. Soon after, a sudden interest in the design and demand for the product lead to a number of order requests from close friends and family. Gretel’s consumer base grew quickly and, within a short five months, she had secured international customers. The sense of comfort, individual confidence and elegance that radiated from the ‘little black dress’ provided the inspiration for the label.
Taught to sew at the age of seven, by her Grandmother, each of the first g&d pieces were hand-made by Gretel in the guest room of her Brisbane home. As demand for these trademark pieces grew, so too did the label. In 2013, Gretel relocated to a larger space in Clayfield, Brisbane, where she now operates. By hand-making the original collections, Gretel’s creative genius and understanding of the female silhouette have been ingrained into the label.
Gretel’s distinctive and unique personal style is certainly reflected throughout her entire collection, where the female form is fully understood, empowered and embodied in beautifully made pieces.
Gretel spends a lot of time in Byron Bay where she finds an abundance of style inspiration. Her bohemian spirit can be found in each piece of gretel&dexter clothing. Her range is characterised by effortless, timeless and classical garments, heavily influenced by the wilderness and beauty of Byron Bay.
Evolving from humble beginnings, the label has grown in success and size. The young designer now caters to a much wider demographic, offering unique, elegant and easy-to-wear pieces for all women. gretel&dexter has quickly become one of Brisbane’s iconic fashion labels, gaining a forever growing and loyal following around Australia and in other parts of the world…. and, they’re just getting started!

EXQUISITE BEADS
Exquisite Beads is solely owned and operated by Deborah Akers, a teacher who stumbled across the art of beadweaving in 2012 while looking for a craft. Beadweaving combines a family of techniques and stitches in which seed beeds are woven together using a needle and thread. Primarily self taught, Deb uses her beadweaving time as relaxation and meditation. She loves to create individual pieces for friends and family.
Deb’s motto VIVERE AMARE DISCERE SPERARE is Latin and means ‘To live, to love, to learn, to hope’. Her beadweaving time helps her to stay focused on these values and maintain a healthy work/life balance. Deb has a beautiful daughter who is the light of her life, and is kept constantly on the go by the menagerie – Moet the dignified beagle, Jenna the hyperactive spoodle, Nina the naughty domestic shorthair and Tiga the boneless ragdoll.
While Deb has a range of standard pieces, her greatest joy is to design pieces for special occasions that are completely one-off creations. She has become a bit of a bead ‘snob’ and prefers to use only the best quality Japanese and Czech seed beads, Swarovski crystals and pearls and semi-precious and precious stones.

Teal for Grandma:
Danielle Brown has formed a group in honour of her Grandmother Mrs Moyah Teys who lost her battle with Ovarian Cancer in 2009. Danielle lives and organizes events in Toowoomba. For further information contact Danielle Brown by email at [email protected]
The Teal Brick Road: http://www.thetealbrickroad.com/
The Teal Brick Road was founded by Tamieka Mannell, who was diagnosed with Ovarian cancer aged 23. The purpose of The Teal Brick Road is to raise awareness of the disease, support those who have been affected both directly and indirectly, and to raise money for research, treatment, and in a perfect world, an early detection test.
They want all women to know the symptoms and risks of ovarian cancer, to know what questions to ask of GP’s, have access to information and support groups, the ability to contact fellow patients and survivors, and to never walk the road alone.
Working closely with the Mater Hospital in Brisbane, The Teal Brick Road has a committee comprising of well known Brisbane based business women who have all been touched by Ovarian cancer and have strong passion for fundraising, which directly supports the Ovarian cancer Research Department of the Mater
Katherine Brown: At 22 years old, Katherine Brown had the world at her feet; she had moved out of home and started her dream job as a teacher working in a small country town. Then she was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. This year Katherine celebrates 6 years cancer free, now teaching in the metropolitan area, while still working hard with a great band of supporters to raise awareness of ovarian cancer, as well as raise funds for research, especially research to find an early detection test ... Katherine writes "Ovarian cancer doesn't discriminate against age or anything and there is still no early detection test".
If you would like to support Katherine in her fundraising efforts please contact the Mater Foundation at (07) 3163 8000
Katherine's next event is Afternoon Tea in the palatial marquee at Victoria Park Golf Course on Saturday 7th May. What a beautiful way to celebrate Mothers Day.
